Injection leaves Moldwel in good Health
Moldwel Products has secured a major contract with one of its current customers in the healthcare sector for injection moulding and toolmaking.
The contract, which comprises more than 20 new mould tools, is worth more than £400,000 a year and will create a number of new jobs at the company.
Managing director Andrew Penn said: “Winning this contract has vindicated our decision to invest in new and modern machinery. While many of our competitors and similar sized companies have been struggling and cutting back, we have continued to invest which has allowed us to improve our efficiency and quality.”
Moldwel operates nine injection moulding machines ranging from 40 to 480 tonnes clamping force and has a toolroom with CNC milling machines, a spark eroder and several manual machines, as well as Solidworks and Matercam CAD/CAM facilities.
The 30-year-old family business currently employs 12 staff. Penn said another four jobs could be created.
Penn said: “We place a great deal of time and effort in making sure our customers get what they want, when they want it, and I am sure the level of service we provide was the telling factor in winning this contract.
“We can’t always compete with foreign companies on price, but what we can do is beat them hands down on service, in terms of quality, delivery lead times and responsiveness to problems.” The company works in several other sectors including housewares, electrical and engineering. Penn said he was currently bidding for two more contracts that could bring significantly more work for the business. |
